We have just relocated my 96-year-old dad to the delightful Aegis Living of Kent. There are so many emotions with a move of this nature, and the staff at Aegis in Kent has been so good, so kind, and so personal with every aspect of this transition. While they have a great awareness of what the families of their residents are going through, they also have such a heart for the people in their charge. As we looked at various memory care places across the country, we decided on Aegis of Kent because, as a stand-alone memory care facility, everyone who works in the building knows all the challenges and gifts of dementia. And from the director and marketing manager to the care workers and health specialists, I can see that they actually care about my dad and his comfort and safety. They are so good at accepting each person as they are and redirecting their residents if change is needed in the moment! They have a daily activity calendar that offers options every day, and the people who lead them are also filled with energy, patience, humor, and heart. As a family member, I am always made to feel welcome at any hour and for any length of time. I could go on, but I will close by saying how happy my family is with our decision to entrust Aegis Living of Kent with our beloved patriarch.

If anyone needs to place a family member in a care facility, I recommend Aegis of Kent very highly. Our family friend was there for three years. The staff was there through every step of this journey. They are the kindest people I have encountered in this setting. The way they treated our friend was a beautiful thing to watch—love, friendship, dignity, and so much more.

I moved my dad in a few months ago and am so impressed with Aegis. Their facility is clean and so welcoming for residents and visitors. They take pride in their landscaping and involve the residents in gardening in the spring. It really feels like home. The staff work together and work hard to make sure our loved ones are treated with dignity and taken care of. I have received photos of my dad participating in activities or just a text to let me know they had a good day or conversation with a staff member. Staff, whether they are in administration, nursing, custodian, chef, or caregiver, go out of their way to welcome family and visitors, making sure to say hello or ask if there is anything they can help with. The calendar of activities and events is amazing. They provide numerous activities throughout the day, week, and month that actively engage residents, no matter their level of awareness or ability. The communication has also been a big positive. I appreciate getting a call or email even for the little things, just to make sure I am aware or notified. I look forward to my dad living there for many, many years to come. I would highly recommend Aegis. It is not easy dealing with a loved one with dementia, but Aegis definitely takes much of the stress away and makes me feel good that my dad is in good hands.
