Giving Back

Giving back to others reflects our commitment to healthy, happy communities. We dedicate time and financial resources to our employees and these organizations:

Charlie Clause Program

Each holiday season, employees take part in the Charlie Clause program. Each of our communities nominates a staff member to receive assistance. Toys, food, clothes and other items are given to the chosen recipient each year.

Winterfest

During Winterfest, our corporate office resembles a department store. Over the course of a day, staff come in and “shop” for items donated and purchased by the company for them. Hundreds of Aegis Living employees are provided with free clothing, toys, and new shoes.

Potato Soup Foundation

Dwayne Clark and Aegis Living established the Potato Soup Foundation with the principal purpose of helping Aegis Living staff and their families in extreme times of need. The foundation has helped people with emergency medical treatment, emergency housing, funeral expenses, and a variety of other crisis situations. We believe in supporting our employees and families as much as possible, especially in their time of need. Read more about the Potato Soup Foundation.

Alzheimer’s Association

It’s estimated that 16 million people have Alzheimer’s disease and that 4.5 million of them are Americans. We at Aegis Living serve nearly 800 every day, with this number steadily climbing. We have been actively involved with the Alzheimer’s Association for over 20 years and will continue to be involved until a cure is found. For more information or to locate your local chapter, go to www.alz.org.

American Diabetes Association

Diabetes strikes nearly 25% of our residents with nearly 20.8 million children and adults in the United States diagnosed.  Our residents, families, and employees are affected directly or indirectly by this disease. We feel the cure is close and support the American Diabetes Association in fighting this disease. For more information, go to www.diabetes.org.

Sound Generations

The assistance provided to seniors, Meals on Wheels delivered to those in need, and their oversight of many senior centers in King County are a few of the reasons we are involved with Sound Generations. Our employees have also served on the Board of Directors, helped with fundraising and volunteering at local senior centers. For more information, go to https://soundgenerations.org/.

Eastside Domestic Violence Program

Aegis Living became involved with this organization several years ago when one of our Executive Directors was killed by her husband in a domestic violence tragedy. LifeWire is the largest domestic violence program in the state of Washington, serving 91,000 victims and their children since 1991. Still, for every person who gets help, 15 are turned away. You can learn about LifeWire by going to www.lifewire.org.

FareStart

“Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; but teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime,” has always resonated with our company. We understand that there are many good people who are only a paycheck away from being homeless, and we are dedicated to helping. FareStart is a job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. For more information, go to www.farestart.org.

Rainier Scholars

We have found Rainier Scholars to be an incredible opportunity to send young, bright, promising inner-city kids to an educationally rich environment. As a young person, Dwayne Clark, Founder and CEO of Aegis Living, had very little means but was fortunate to have been afforded a private school scholarship through his family’s church. That education turned his life around and led him to believe in himself and the things that he could accomplish. We are extremely honored to serve on the Rainer Scholars board and grow great leaders for our future. You can learn more about Rainier Scholars by going to www.rainierscholars.org.
