Families stay close

Visit daily. Join meals. Celebrate First Thursdays.

Long-distance family stays connected through the app with photos and activities. Residents are able to age in place through advanced dementia — with caring hospice coordination right in the apartment, surrounding them with comfort and family, whenever that gentle chapter arrives.

Not sure you're ready? Start with a respite stay or day stay to get to know the team first.

Non-pharmacologic approaches — music, structured activity, environmental design, and trained-caregiver relationships — are recommended first to ease agitation and reduce antipsychotic use in dementia care.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When is the right time to consider memory care for a parent?
Many families find it's time when day-to-day safety needs more support - moments of way-finding confusion, unsteadiness, or keeping medications on track - or when the family caregiver is feeling stretched thin. The Alzheimer's Association points to these moments and caregiver well-being as the clearest signals. Moving sooner, while there's time to settle in gently, is usually easier for everyone than waiting for a crisis.
Is memory care covered by Medicare?
Original Medicare does not cover the room-and-board portion of memory care, though it covers qualifying medical services, short-term rehab, and hospice. Long-term care insurance, VA Aid and Attendance, and personal assets typically fund the residential cost. Our team can help answer your questions during your tour.
Can my parent age in place if dementia progresses?
Yes. Life's Neighborhood supports moderate through advanced dementia, including two-person transfers, Hoyer lifts, and a caring partnership with hospice so a resident can be surrounded by comfort, dignity, and family right in their own apartment. Many residents are able to age in place in the home they know.
Do you allow family visits?
Yes. Families are welcomed daily, can join meals, and are invited to First-Thursday parties. The Áegis Living app keeps long-distance family updated with photos and activities in real time.
What if we are not sure memory care is the right fit yet?
A good first step is an in-person nursing assessment to understand your parent's needs. If they're somewhere in between, transitional care within assisted living often bridges the gap beautifully, and a respite or day stay lets your family experience the community together for a few days or weeks before deciding.
