Editorial policy

Senior-care decisions are some of the most consequential a family ever makes. Everything published on aegisliving.com is researched, reviewed, and signed off by the in-house Áegis Living Editorial Team — community directors, licensed nurses, clinical educators, and operations leaders with decades of combined experience caring for older adults.

Who writes the content

The Áegis Living Editorial Team is an in-house group of staff writers, licensed clinicians, and community operators. Articles are drafted by experienced senior-care writers, reviewed for clinical accuracy by registered nurses and our memory-care specialists, and approved by a community director or vice president before publication.

When a piece references operational practice at a specific Áegis Living community, that section is reviewed by the community’s executive director. Pricing, financial, and legal sections are reviewed by our finance and legal teams.

Sourcing and citations

Statistical claims, clinical guidance, and regulatory facts cite primary sources — typically the National Institute on Aging, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Mayo Clinic, or peer-reviewed journals. Citations are inline and link directly to the referenced page.

Industry data (occupancy rates, average costs, regulatory changes) is sourced from organizations like the American Senior Housing Association, AHCA/NCAL, and state regulators, with the year of the data attached so readers can judge currency.

How we update articles

Every published article carries a visible “Updated” date. When a guideline changes, a statistic is restated, or a section is rewritten for clarity, the article is re-reviewed by the original author or another qualified team member and the Updated date is bumped. We do not re-stamp articles solely because of platform deploys.

A scheduled audit runs against every article on the site quarterly, validating external citation links and flagging any broken or redirected sources for replacement.

Corrections

If you find an error — a factual mistake, a broken citation, a misattributed quote — please write to [email protected]. We respond within five business days and post a visible correction note on the affected article when the change is material.
