Gratitude

Since meeting Brenda Dodd in January of 2020, I have felt supported, never rushed, in my decision to place my husband, David, at Aegis at Ravenna. Finally in May we made that choice, realizing that Covid was not going away soon. The stress of Covid made the burden of caring for David no longer manageable. Yet we worried so much about how we would stay in touch during the lockdown. Understanding that, Aegis has been very supportive of… the needs of families, creating a visiting patio that eases the pain of the separation. And the warmth and care of the staff has made a huge difference in reassuring me that we made the right choice. Kyle is a fantastic nurse, keeping me informed about how David is doing, and answering my questions whenever they come up. –Molly, wife of David, resident in Life’s Neighborhood

There is no greater gift than to lighten another’s terrible burden. As my sister deteriorated, it became impossible for us to give her the attention and care she needs. Are we ever grateful to you amazing folks at Aegis Ravenna! Sue, you so reflect the spirit of that lovely place as you introduced us to Aegis Ravenna, and still are taking time to visit Marilyn during your breaks. Kyle and Fritzie, your nursing and care as well as outreach to… us about Marilyn’s needs are outstanding. Lori, your leadership shines over this inspired group, and we are very grateful for your amazing updates of all the activities of the staff to keep people busy, happy, and safe– especially in these difficult times. We feel incredibly lucky to have found Aegis Ravenna after an extensive search. Thank you, thank you, thank you all!

From our very first interaction with Aegis Ravenna staff, my family has been treated with compassion, respect and sincerity. The staff at Aegis held our hands through the entire process of transitioning my mother from home to memory care. Witnessing how intensely the staff (including management) worked to get to know my mother and our family and their individualized approach to making the transition smooth for her instilled an unexpected level of confidence and trust. Prior to the pandemic, we… were able to experience first hand how the staff works with residents to ensure that they feel supported emotionally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the pandemic, Aegis has been extremely agile in adapting their programs to continue to accommodate their residents in this manner, to the extent possible, with safety being a top priority. The communication regarding safety precautions, changes to daily activities, and mechanisms to interact with my mother via video or the outdoor living room have demonstrated that Aegis prioritizes residents, their safety, and connection to family. We are extremely grateful for Aegis Ravenna.

Since Mom as unable to care for herself, was depressed and not wanting to “live” anymore and as her son wanting the best for her I am heartfelt grateful to all of the staff at Aegis Pleasant Hill! I know our “story” is not unique, and others have weathered the same issues with their parents. With Aegis mom has safety, fabulous care, has her dignity and self worth back. Yet still independent and at “home”. A new home with “family”.… I believe the fine catering staff, caregivers, cleaning, maintenance team, chefs and servers, medical techs and gardeners all are the best dedicated individuals! It takes a lot of effort for not only one individual, but a whole community of individuals is a real task. Our grateful “thank you” and great job is never sufficient in the amount of times said, or expressed to the whole Aegis Pleasant Hill team. In this time of extra challenges the even greater dedication and time and loving care to all our elderly citizens is so much to admire and recognize. It requires a true dedication as we need to remember they too have families to care for and under a lot of pressure as well. Thanks is never enough but needs to be said often and with emotion.
