Gratitude

My 93-year-old mom recently passed peacefully, about a year after moving into Aegis Living. In a sense, it was a bonus year for us. She had lived a full life and was ready to go a year ago, but her resilient body kept on going despite the dementia that changed so much of what she could manage for herself. Last June, Mom agreed to a short-term stay at Aegis at Ravenna, and then moved in permanently in July. There were many… pluses for us. The location was perfect. Mom had raised her kids in Maple Leaf, and my younger sister lived just north of Aegis and I was just to the east, an easy walk. Mom and her family had lived in Rome, Italy for three years, so the look and feel of Aegis at Ravenna was warm and welcoming and familiar. The Aegis community made it easy for us, as family members, to join Mom for dinners (sometimes lunches and breakfasts if I walked over in the morning). That was great social time (and delicious food) and also a chance to have fascinating conversations with other residents. We came over almost every weekend to watch football games with Mom in the sports bar. Mom enjoyed herself. Her studio was the perfect size to be comfortable and manageable. All of these visits gave us the opportunity to get to know staff and show our appreciation and get our questions answered. I highly recommend trying out the short-term stay first. It opens your eyes to possibilities

I’d like to thank Brenda, Lori and the entire Aegis staff for all their work ensuring that my Uncle Dan’s transition to the Community went so smoothly. While moving during a pandemic is never easy, they were there every step of the way from helping me schedule a Covid test to getting his computer and phone set up so we could be in contact with him during his 14 day quarantine. He is doing great, loves the food and personal… attention and really enjoys his Western exposure and view of the Olympics and sunset. I knew this was the right place for my Uncle, as just a year ago we moved my Mother to the Community and they’ve been doing a great job taking care of her. I look forward to my Mom and her brother being able to spend time together in their new Community, keep up the great work!

Thank you, Aegis, for taking care of my mom and going the extra mile to make her life comfortable, social, and safe! We are so grateful that we can count on you to facilitate her needs, whatever they may be, especially during these unpredictable times. We couldn’t do it without you and your wonderful staff.

Thank you for the caring, time, and patience the staff have given to the residents of Aegis. I know my mother, Susie so love and appreciate the staff. You are all like family to her. I know that this is a difficult time for all and I have great gratitude for all you do for my mother and all the residents of Aegis. Thank you ?
