Gratitude

My wife and I both have parents who’ve lived in multiple assisted living facilities over time. We both agree Aegis Gardens is the best of them. The staff is well-trained, friendly, caring and attentive. The nursing staff is very active and responsive. The activity staff is engaging. The maintenance and cleanliness of the building is impeccable. The food variety and quality is closer to restaurant dining. This is the best community for our family. Thanks for all you do. Sam… C.

Last year my visits to see my mother in her memory care home had become more infrequent…I wondered if this was a new phase of my grief over the long goodbye… For the first time when I sat down next to her, her face did not relax with recognition. She reached up and studied my face with her hands as I told her it’s me, Emily, your middle daughter.  She still wasn’t sure, but she let me take her hands and… welcomed my presence.  This is where my routine with her took a jag. Instead of holding her hand and carefully walking her out of the activity to spend time alone with her, we stayed right where we were in the group poetry reading. Sometime between the poet’s words, and questions and reflections of her co-residents, she remembered who I was. The more I choose what is easible over what might be feasible the more I live into peace.. I began reading the poetry out loud to the group, taking my time, with wide pauses and clear voice. There was peace in this new way of being with my mom. …whether we are facing a challenge, celebrating a milestone, or experiencing the mundane, life is better together, and no one needs to go it alone.  The family of Aegis care staff has held not only my mother but her whole family every step of the way through her journey with Alzheimer’s, with Love, not Fear, delivering unto all of us Peace. We have never felt alone, for which we are incredibly grateful. – Emily M

A heart felt thank you to Devon & Nita for taking the extra time and effort to listen to my mother and come up with a solution that addressed her needs. Talking with her afterwards I could hear the happiness in her voice. She feels cared about and valued as a person. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and innovative solution. In these challenging times it means even more that you took care of not just her physical health,but also her emotional well… being.

Mom had always been amazingly vigorous, healthy, active and sharp – until she couldn’t do the same things anymore. After looking at several places, she picked Aegis. She liked the feel, the location, the smiles and the other residents. It has been wonderful for her – and a huge relief for the rest of us – that she has the support she needs. They make the residents feel special every day. They know new residents by name immediately it seems,… and family members as well. Mom is enjoying life. Thank You Aegis – ALL of you! – Eva M.
