March 9th Update

Aegis Living Friends:

We remain committed to keeping you updated on our communities, residents and staff, and the efforts we are taking to protect all in our care from coronavirus. Our goal is to communicate often and answer questions we know must be arising for you.

We learned late yesterday, March 9th, that a resident at Aegis Living Marymoor (Redmond, Wash.) has been diagnosed with COVID-19. This is the first and only resident at Aegis Living Marymoor with a confirmed case of coronavirus.

The resident was being treated for what was believed to be an unrelated condition at a local hospital last Thursday, March 5th. As a precaution, this resident was tested for COVID-19 by the hospital. Per our company protocols and practices, this resident was placed in isolation upon return from the hospital Thursday evening and remained in isolation until they returned to the hospital yesterday for treatment.

We continue to work closely with local public health authorities and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC visited the Marymoor community today to provide the staff additional support and training specific to COVID-19. We are also coordinating with the CDC to provide precautionary testing to residents to ensure we are taking every step necessary to keep them safe.

Our entire team is focused on doing all we can to continue protecting the health and safety for all:

  • At Aegis Living Marymoor, we will maintain our community-wide isolation and vigilance with infection control and sanitation practices, meeting or exceeding current CDC recommendations for COVID-19.
  • In all other Washington communities, we are continuing to strictly limit non-essential visits and follow the heightened infection control and sanitation protocols we already have in place.

We have no other confirmed cases at any other communities. We are happy to report that residents are doing well and we are keeping spirits high – enjoying their favorite activities, singing their favorite songs and eating delicious meals – with our team by their sides.

We continue to keep all of those affected by coronavirus in our thoughts and prayers. This is no doubt a challenging time for all.
