March 19th Update

Exciting Updates to Washington State Guidelines

Late yesterday, Washington Governor Jay Inslee held a press conference and announced updated guidance for long-term care facilities and communities like Aegis. We are thrilled that Washington has now approved indoor, in-person visits when either the resident or visitor has been vaccinated. We will be working through the weekend to finalize our plans with the goal of reuniting residents and their families first of next week.

While we are eager to bring residents and families together right away, we also must be certain we are doing this in the safest way possible for all. With more than 95% of residents vaccinated and zero active cases of coronavirus in our Washington communities, we believe Aegis is one of the safest places on the planet. We are excited to take this next important step back toward normal and can’t wait to welcome our families back. Meanwhile, our residents are enjoying being out and about in their communities, playing games and joining in on fun activities (see photos below!).

In California, where these guidelines vary from county to county, we are working closely with the CDC and local health officials. Our General Managers will share news as they have it in each community, and we look forward to sharing more with our residents and their families across all states in the coming days.

Where We Stand Today

We are happy to report that we have zero cases among our 2,200 residents and just one case among our 2,500 staff members across California, Nevada, and Washington. We have seen case numbers rapidly decline since our first vaccination clinics were completed. Our vaccination efforts continue to move full steam ahead, with over 96% of residents and 85% of staff already vaccinated.

During this transitional time, we are continuing to follow our infection control and safety practices until we are certain it is safe for us to begin adopting new practices and protocols. If you have questions, we encourage you to review our Frequently Asked Questions and visit trusted sources like the CDC website for more in-depth medical information.
