We continue with our urgent response to the coronavirus and have put in place some additional efforts to continue to keep residents safe. At this time, these additional protocols apply to Washington communities only.

Starting tomorrow, we will be enacting a voluntary community-wide isolation policy at all of our Washington communities. The voluntary isolation will last a minimum of two-weeks and may be extended based on what we learn from our public health officials and the CDC in the coming days and weeks.

We know this practice is one of the most effective ways to safeguard our residents. Locally we have seen school districts, events and even workplaces closed to promote social distancing. Taking this next level of precaution helps further protect us all from the spread of coronavirus.

Here are the changes that will go in affect tomorrow, March 13^th:

• No visitors, including family, will be allowed into the community. Exceptions will of course be made for essential visits, including end-of-life situations. Families should reach out if they believe a visit is essential.
• All residents will remain in their apartments, avoiding any common spaces and interaction with other residents. We will bring meals directly to resident’s apartments and ensure everyone stays hydrated and has the nutrition they want and need throughout the day. The dining and food areas will be closed.
• In addition to closely monitoring all residents for signs of illness, we are checking their temperatures and oxygen saturation daily. We are also checking temperatures for all staff members and anyone who enters the community for what has been deemed an essential visit.
• We are providing in-room activities and will continue to bring fun to residents each day – whether it be a Skype visit with family, daily activity packets, live music from the hallways or trying out some of the new digital entertainment programs we are launching.

We continue to support our Aegis Living Marymoor community as they manage active cases of coronavirus. We worked with the CDC to proactively test residents as selected according to CDC guidelines; initial results confirm seven negative and eight new positive resident cases. The CDC has validated that our procedures are well above standards and while it’s difficult to have residents affected directly, the team is confident we have the best protocols and practices in place for all. This is a challenging time for all impacted at the community and we continue to provide love and support to families, residents and staff.

California and Nevada continue to limit non-essential community visits and have put in place additional precautionary measures.

As of today, no other Aegis Living communities have any confirmed cases of coronavirus.
