July 3rd Update
Celebrating Love and Unity this Independence Day Weekend!
In this year of many challenges, we celebrate American strength, diversity, love and the fact that we are unified under a common set of values and principles that make our country great. And we know that if we stay committed to healing, that we will build a better future — together. That in mind, we wish you all a safe and Happy 4th of July weekend in this weeks’ update.

This Week
Our teams have been working hard to create more opportunities to connect our families with experiences and opportunities for our residents to visit safely.
Outdoor Living Rooms
Since mid-June, all 32 of our Aegis Living communities have implemented our specially designed Outdoor Living Rooms amid rave family reviews! Each community has one unique to its location and features comfortable furnishing, beautiful décor, and large plexiglass walls to safely keep residents and visitors separated. They are designed in conjunction with epidemiologists. You can take a look here to see some examples of these beautiful visitor seating areas.

But these spaces are more than just pretty and comfy. The living rooms have given so many an opportunity to reconnect in person after months of being apart. One wonderful example of these spaces connecting people comes from our Las Vegas location where Bert and his wife Sandy were able to sit down for a meal together to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary after being apart for 106 days, thanks to our Outdoor Living Rooms. Reunions like this one are a heartwarming reminder of why we strive to lead our industry in innovation during this pandemic.
Distance Dining
In addition to our safe gathering spaces, Aegis Living has also begun to reopen our dining rooms as part of phase one of our reopening plan in all 32 communities. Our residents are offered the opportunity to participate in one small group dining experience each day with individual escorts and all parties wearing a mask and staying physically distanced. While we are taking this process slowly and carefully, the results so far have been encouraging and show the value in the group dining experience for our residents. We are continuously monitoring the impact of this effort to ensure our procedures remain safe and effective.
Where We Stand Today
We are emphasizing with all families, residents and staff that it is just as important as ever to maintain the highest level of safety and caution as states have begun reopening and cases nationwide are on the rise. We remain diligent in our infection control and safety protocols at each community and are currently managing just 14 positive cases companywide. Of our nearly 2,200 residents, five have tested positive, along with nine staff members. Of course, we believe that one case is too many, and we are working to get back to zero. The communities managing the coronavirus cases this week are Granada Hills (nearly clear), Carmichael, Madison, and Corte Madera. We are performing contact tracing testing to track down any further exposure and our teams are exercising the highest infection control processes and testing broadly with no further positive results to date.
Again, we hope you are all staying healthy and that you enjoy the long holiday weekend ahead. From all of us at Aegis Living, we wish you a happy and safe 4th of July celebration.
