Rockin’ their 90s as Tech Savvy Seniors

Our Dynamic Lady Duo Inspires Others to Stay Connected

Living a curious life is a way of life we encourage throughout Aegis Living communities. And these days, lifelong learning has never been more important. That’s why we celebrate when we see seniors embracing the technology we introduce aimed at bringing friends and family together like these two ladies who are truly rocking their California community as tech savvy influencers. The residents live at Aegis Living Dana Point and are inspiring others to socialize safely and much more often via video calls.

To start, our Life Enrichment team happily assisted them in setting up Facetime calls. But now these ladies are pros and urging other residents to connect via their smart pads. The dynamic duo calls each other daily from the comfort of their own rooms using their iPads and are happily connecting with others to keep the conversations going.

Meantime, we remain in state of doubled down, heightened safety protocols as we work every day to keep COVID-19 out of our communities. We’ve seen national and statewide spikes in positive cases with the broader spread of the virus. This week, we are managing 35 positive cases. Amid our 2,200 residents across the west coast, we have 11 positive, and 14 cases among our 2,500 staff members. The communities managing the virus this week include Corte Madera, Shadowridge, Madison, Rodgers Park, Aptos, Shoreline, Dana Point, Lodge, Las Vegas, Fremont and Laguna Niguel. We continue conducting contact tracing testing – identifying and testing those staff or residents that may potentially have been in contact with a positive person in the community, as part of our rapid response culture. Our team members are working tirelessly to get back to zero. We will continue to communicate regularly with updates via email and phone to our residents, their families and the staff effected, to remain transparent in our status and report the results of universal testing in our communities.

World’s #1 Shark Expert Leads Zoom Speaker Series for our Residents

Our Life Enrichment Team has been working around the clock to produce a stimulating and interesting speaker series via Zoom for our residents to enjoy virtually given COVID-19. This past week, our residents tuned into a Zoom presentation from wildlife photographer and videographer, Chris Fallows, who presented from South Africa where he is currently filming wildlife footage for the Discovery Channel. Chris told us countless captivating stories about his adventures around the world documenting amazing species, including the Great White Shark. Residents certainly enjoyed hearing from Chris, and they continue tuning in each week to hear the stories from our other speakers in the series, which includes a former Olympic gold medalist, an historian, an astrophysicist and more. This custom Aegis Living series is one more way we nurture lifelong learning.
