January 29th Update
First Vaccination Clinics Have Been Scheduled!
We’re excited to share that our first COVID-19 vaccine clinics have been scheduled for all 32 Aegis communities—and 75% of the communities have already hosted that first clinic. We have now turned focus to scheduling our second and third vaccine clinics and are optimistic those will all be confirmed soon as well. We have been blown away by the enthusiasm of both residents and staff participating in vaccine clinics thus far. Nearly all residents and staff are opting to receive the vaccine. Our goal continues to be full participation and we aim to get there by the third clinic conducted at each community.
Our community teams have not only worked hard to prepare for the vaccine clinics, but to make the days extra-special celebrations – from choosing creative themes like “COVID No More” and “Saturday Night No Fever” to bringing in custom t-shirts, photo booths, balloon displays, and special treats like Jell-O “shots” and cookies decorated with masks.
As we get the vaccine out to our communities, we continue to seek out the latest insight and guidance from the expert doctors and researchers on our Coronavirus Advisory Council, which has been instrumental in helping us keep our residents and teams safe over these past several months. We will continue to follow our infection control and safety practices until we are certain it is safe for us to begin adopting new practices and protocols. Where We Stand Today
This week, we are managing 17 cases amid our 2,200 residents across the west coast, and 26 among our 2,500 staff members. During this time, we are maintaining our current, vigilant infection control and safety practices, including mask-wearing and social distancing. Our visitor policies will also remain the same until we hear otherwise from medical experts and local health authorities.
