December 18th Update
Important Vaccine News This Week
We are eagerly awaiting getting the COVID-19 vaccines to our communities. Aegis Living has formed a Vaccine Task Force that includes our pharmacy partner CVS, and our clinical experts alongside our care and safety teams, working together to ensure we have everything necessary to get this vaccine to our residents and teams as quickly as possible. We’re excited to see momentum this week as local hospital teams started to receive the vaccines and began this process. CVS will soon be sharing dates for vaccination clinics at all Aegis Living communities.
There is broad agreement in the scientific community that the vaccine is safe and effective, with the approved Pfizer vaccine having shown 95% efficacy in clinical trials. The Moderna vaccine which is likely to be approved soon shows similar promise.
If you have more questions, we encourage you to review our Frequently Asked Questions and visit trusted sources like the CDC website for more in-depth medical information.
Where We Stand Today
We continue to strictly enforce safety protocols as we work hard to keep COVID-19 out of our communities. We are asking our team members, as well as residents and their families, to diligently follow CDC and our added Aegis Living protocols, such as face shields and gloves, heightened screening and regular staff testing. This week, we are managing 40 cases amid our 2,200 residents across the west coast, and 53 among our 2,500 staff members.
We will continue to communicate regularly with our residents, their families and the staff in impacted communities, and report the results of universal testing. For details about a specific community, please reach out to that community’s General Manager or email questions@aegisliving.com.
12 Days of Holiday Cheer Continues!
The holiday festivities are well underway this week as we continue our 12 Days of Holiday Cheer program, where each community has its own unique event calendar, including a variety of safe and socially distanced celebrations. This week communities enjoyed activities like wreath making and Hanukkah fun. We’ve been sharing more photos of the festivities on our social media channels, so go check them out!
