August 21st Update

Smiling. Working. Living life to the fullest.

Our care teams work hard. They bring a big smile to each task and do all they can to protect residents. You’ll notice that we now have face shields as an added layer of protection. It is one more way to keep residents and our team members safe. But they can get warm. Our Ventura general manager found a way to bring a smile under those masks and shields with some cool Kona Ice as just one more way to show staff appreciation. We are big believers that happy employees make happy residents.

Where We Stand Today

We are continuing to stay diligent in our safety protocols and are working tirelessly to keep COVID-19 out of our communities. Along with national and statewide spikes in positive cases with the broader spread of the virus, we are managing 30 positive cases. Amid our 2,200 residents and 2,500 staff members across the west coast. The communities managing the virus this week include Shadowridge, Newcastle, Rodgers Park, West Seattle, Madison, Pleasant Hill, Marymoor and Corte Madera. We continue conducting contact tracing testing as part of our rapid response culture, and will continue to communicate regularly with updates via email and phone to our residents, their families and the staff effected, to remain transparent in our status and report the results of universal testing in our communities.

Our Newcastle Community Celebrates a 100th Birthday!

It was a special day at our Newcastle community this week as we celebrated our resident Evie’s 100th birthday! Wearing her feather boa and a crown, the birthday girl had a fabulous party complete with flowers, balloons and cupcakes. To make the day even more special, she was able to safely celebrate her big day with her family in one of our Outdoor Living Rooms. Our Outdoor Living Room experience is incredibly important in helping our residents continue to connect with loved ones during the pandemic. The plexiglass wall provides a safe barrier while still allowing for connection and conversation. It brings us so much joy to ensure our residents are still able to celebrate these special milestones together. Make a wish, Evie! By the way, don’t forget National Centenarians Day is coming up September 22nd!
