April 23rd Update

Our momentum in the battle against the virus remains strong companywide. We are confident that through this time, we can weather through the challenges we may face as we all fight against coronavirus.  This week, we are addressing a few positive COVID-19 tests in Aegis Living Kirkland; and we have one case in Aegis Living Las Vegas.

At Aegis Living Las Vegas, a staff member tested positive after working in another workplace outside of Aegis Living where COVID-19 was present. The other two staff members at our Kirkland community that tested positive became symptomatic and thus were tested.  Our teams are executing on CDC protection protocols and we are continuing to test staff and residents more broadly. Communications with families continue directly via email to keep them all updated. And we are confident in the tireless commitment of staff as they double down their protection efforts in these two communities.

Meanwhile, in all other 30 Aegis Living communities across the West Coast, both residents and staff, remain clear of any diagnosed cases of the virus. And we are humbled by the recognition that families have given our teams throughout this journey.

Our team at Granada Hills was surprised with this sign that Heroes Work Here at their California community. A family member drove 60 miles to set it up at night and surprise the morning staff. And boy, were they! Some were in tears. The message resonates across our company as many care staff, and nurses in senior living do not typically receive the same recognition as those who work in hospitals. It meant the world.

This is a tough time for so many of our seniors.  If you know of someone who needs help, perhaps it’s a friend or neighbor struggling to care for a loved one at home – please ask them to reach out to us.  We’re here to help, whether they need a home like Aegis or just need some basic resources or advice that may provide some relief.  Reach out to any Aegis Living location for support.
