September 4th Update

Looking Ahead: Labor Day

It’s Labor Day weekend and we could not be more proud and grateful for each dedicated employee at Aegis Living! Not only do our teams show up every day on the front lines to protect our residents from COVID-19, but they often go above and beyond to bring a smile to our residents’ faces in big and little things. In fact, just this week, our Kirkland Lodge community’s care staff wanted to surprise residents, and what better way than to go all out for an ice cream party. Their theme was “banana splits” so they dressed up in banana costumes and went door-to-door serving ice cream and banana splits to residents. The hallways were filled with laughter as residents enjoyed the treats and silly costumes of our amazing care staff.

Preparing for Flu Season

As we head into Fall, flu season preparations are underway for staff and residents. In October, we will be conveniently providing flu vaccines to all residents and staff. Each of our communities will communicate directly with resident families about the timing and logistics of the flu vaccinations. Additionally, we are fully stocked with plenty of PPE materials for our staff and residents to protect them this Fall.

Where We Stand Today

This week we are managing eleven positive cases in our communities and are doing whatever we can to reduce that number back to zero. Amid our 2,200 residents across the west coast, we have eight positive, and three cases among our 2,500 staff members. The communities managing the virus this week include Corte Madera and Shadowridge. We always do consistent and rigorous contact tracing and testing to control the spread and protect our residents and staff. We’re dedicated to transparency and are in constant contact with resident families and the staff effected, about the results of the testing in our communities.

Celebrating the 100th Birthday of Edie (She Beat COVID!)

We strive to continue celebrating life’s best moments, and this week, we celebrated the fabulous life of Edie from our Marymoor community. An incredible woman who has survived cancer, she also beat COVID-19 just a few months ago and now she’s celebrating her 100th birthday. WOW! Her strength and determination are inspiring to say the least! We have been there for Edie every step of the way and were ecstatic to be a part of this huge milestone. We threw her an incredible party and our staff made sure that her family could join the festivities virtually via our Chat Suite. It was a very special day for a strong lady!
