Dramatic video of 45 year-old Aegis of Aptos care manager Irene Magana, finding out she’s just won $35,000 in the Aegis Living Dream Big Employee Lottery.
Irene (of Capitola, California) plans to put money down on a house. Several years ago during the recession, she lost her home when she and her husband couldn’t make the payments. When she heard her name announced as a lottery winner, she broke into tears. When she told her husband, he cried. And when he told their kids, they cried too.
Irene is loved by her co-workers. She once cancelled a vacation to visit family back home in Mexico because she was needed at work.
Magana has been caring for residents living with dementia and Alzheimer’s at the Aegis of Aptos (in Aptos, California) assisted living community for 14 years.
A total of $50,000 was given away Tuesday, September 15th, 2015 to hundreds of Aegis Living employees. Aegis Living CEO Dwayne Clark came up with the novel idea of the lottery as a way to reward loyal employees. Fifteen other Aegis Living employees were awarded $1,000 each in the lottery, held in Redmond, Washington.
