“My mother has been deteriorating for many years with Alzheimer’s and it became very apparent a year ago that she needed help. My brothers and I began the uncomfortable and often difficult process of taking away our fiercely independent mother’s freedom. Mom was still driving alone, as well as living on her own. Under the circumstances, there simply was no other ethical choice.
“We began our research and had visited several different facilities in anticipation of moving her. Fortunately, I stopped at the Aegis in Bothell, took a tour, and was very impressed by both the facilities there and the obvious caring of the staff. Aegis had the perfect combination we were looking for, and was the obvious best choice. The decision was easy after that.
“Due to a variety of factors (including a location closer to my brothers), we ultimately chose Aegis of Redmond. They were extremely helpful there, and even allowed us to recarpet and paint her apartment with her favorite colors. This made the transition just that much more easy for my mother.
“All management and staff members were very professional during the transition and went out of their way to make us and, most importantly, our mom feel completely welcome. Her concerns and well-being were obviously important to them, and the adjustment to the new environment went extremely well. This was a huge relief for us!
“Today, a year later, it is a joy to see my mother interacting with other residents and to watch the personalized care she continues to receive. The staff have made her feel completely at ease, and she is thriving. She is part of their family and she is happy.
“This gives my brothers and me true peace of mind. We no longer have the heavy burden of worrying about our mother. We know we made the perfect choice in choosing Aegis. Thank you all.”
