Q: What activity are the residents most excited to participate in?
A: The residents love the weekly ceramics class. It always gets a huge turnout, and their creativity and artistic skills come out. They enjoy picking out a variety of clay formations and painting them with lots of detail.
Q: What activity makes the residents laugh the most?
A: The residents laugh out loud whenever they play balloon badminton. They love playing it because they get physical exercise and improve their concentration skills. They just hit the balloon with their racket, and they never know where the balloon will land!
Q: What activity gets the most residents involved?
A: Anything related to music gets almost all the residents involved. I bring in singers, pianists, and music therapists three times a week, and I’m so thrilled to see how everyone sings along and sways to the music. The music therapists bring instruments for the residents to play, so it becomes an interactive musical experience for all of them.
Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be? How would it help your job at Aegis?
A: I’d definitely be a mind reader. Most of the residents are very vocal about what they like and don’t like, but there are some residents that have a hard time communicating their wants and needs. My goal is to make sure everyone has an active life here with many fulfilling activities. If the residents don’t tell me what they enjoy, then it would be so helpful to have the ability to read their minds so I know what to plan for them.
Q: What gets you out of bed and excited to come to work every day?
A: Talking to the residents and learning about their lives is so interesting to me. Knowing that they appreciate everything I do for them makes it exciting to be at work every day.
