Resident Stories - Aegis Living of Gardens
Our Residents’ Family Stories
Mary was depressed when she first moved in because she recently lost her husband, missed her friends that she left behind at another community, and was struggling to accept her latest diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Although Mary was anxious and depressed during her first day at the community, our staff took the time to introduce her to residents and give her a tour of our community.Mary was delighted to see that she was surrounded by so many Chinese residents and immersed in Chinese culture.
By the early afternoon, Mary was playing Mah Jong and enjoying afternoon tea and baking red bean buns with her new friends. However, her favorite part of the day was eating pig’s feet for dinner.
Mary constantly tells her adult children how much she enjoys living here at Aegis Gardens. She says it is a place she can call home because she is surrounded by people of the same ethnicity and able to enjoy food and activities from her Chinese culture.
