Enjoy these notes written to our staff members from family and friends of residents. We call them WOW stories, because they are tales about Aegis Living team members who provided such a high level of service that it knocked the socks off appreciative residents – touching their hearts and ours.
Bill (a strong military man, yet very quiet and soft spoken) sat down to paint a horse. I asked him what color he wanted his horse to be. Without hesitation, Bill answered, “Roan Red.”
“And what are you naming your horse?,” I asked. And again without any hesitation at all Bill affirmatively said, “Dick.” We wrote the name on a piece of ribbon and added it to his painting.
Just about that time his daughter walked in. I asked Bill to show his daughter his art piece. He proudly held it high for her to see. “Dick?!,” she said in shock. She stood there speechless while tears filled her eyes. She remembered being a little girl and her dad telling her stories about Dick the horse. When Bill was a child and lived on a farm, Dick was his working horse and first best friend.
It was priceless.
